Fun weekend in Vail

I got free accommodations at the Marriott at Vail Village this weekend for a conference.  So we packed up the car and headed out for a fun family weekend.  Both Matthew and I are trying to recover from whooping cough so were taking it a bit slow but we are still having a great time.  The peak aspen change was last weekend but it is still so pretty up here!  We promised Matthew a gondola ride and it isn't running. He was sad there was no "Up Up"  so we went and threw rocks in the stream instead.

yeah, rocks!!

he has quite an arm!

He still prefers to push the stroller rather than ride in it.

"wow, a sewer!"

Matthew is ready for his hike

I took a ton of pictures of really yellow trees but I'll try to limit it here to about 10.

Rest break

Matthew got cranky in the backpack and ended up walking up about 1 mile of our 4 mile hike!  He was amazing.  He scrambled over rocks and fell and got right back up.
What a handsome boy!

Post Party Fun

Matthew and I had a fun time cleaning up after his birthday party.

He insisted on wearing half of his puppy costume over his PJ's and jumping in the house while I cleaned up.

What a handsome puppy

He loves it when I turn it off and he sinks and then I turn it back on.   Hard to clean up though when I am busy turning the jumpy house off and on.

Smiles like this just melt a Mama's heart.

Belated Party

Matthew's birthday was in August but we were out of town.  So yesterday we finally had a birthday party for him. Below are a ton of pictures from the event.

The patio before guest arrive

I didn't have a lot of time to make a cake so I just threw together some quick cupcakes.

The party was a puppy themed party... surprise, surprise.

The kids loved the bouncy house that Matthew got form us for his birthday.

Dilbert loved watching the kids bounce and run.

Birthday boy hug!

He's too cute in that puppy outfit!

Boy do we look alike or what?

Puppy ears and nose!

Dilbert got sad because I wouldn't let him keep digging in the grout between the flagstone.

He really has the sappy puppy look down.

Time for Cake!!!

"Forget a fork, I'd rather use my hands!"

"look blue icing... fun!"

Yeah!

Matthew's giggle after Uncle Chad smooshed some cake in his face.

More playing with the cake instead of eating it.

"Please can I have some cake... Please?"

He's just so cute!

Goofball

Through a long train of crazy events I ended up with both Dilbert and Dusky (litter mates) at work today.  Two puppies 13 weeks old in a medical office is asking for trouble.  Below are some fun shots from the day.
This is how it started out.... two crazy puppies.

I tried to put them both in the kennel hoping they would calm down so I could see patients.  Right, that was wishful thinking.

Eventually they did calm down a bit.

After Dusky went home Dilbert was OUT the rest of the day.

I mean really?!?  Has he no shame?
