Photo fun

By the time I go back to work Matthew is going to really hate my camera.  I took advantage of the fact that Matthew was awake and bright eyed this morning to take a few more pictures.  The outfit is still a bit big but still cute.  These aren't as good as the last ones I took but are still fun.

It almost looks like he is trying to smile

Grandma Johns made the quilt I am using as a background.

I had to put this one up just because I thought it was funny.... "agh there is a giant colorful spider on my leg"

"Hmmmm  what can I do to get back at mommy for making me sit through more picture taking?"

Welcome Fall

Fall is my favorite season of the year.  It isn't all that cool yet here but the trees are turning and the breezes are glorious.  Alex is starting class again tomorrow and then is starting a part time job soon.  As a last day of "freedom" he requested that we drive up the poudre canyon again.  So on Sunday we took a long drive all the way up the canyon to the pass.  The aspen were changing and the views were great.  We didn't stop to take many pictures but I did snap a few.

Still having fun

Alex and I refuse to be the kind of family that just stays in.  Even though we are both exhausted from Matthew's lack of sleeping, we still want to go out and enjoy life.  We just have found that our outings have to be shorter and well planned out.  On friday we took Vigo, Matthew and Alex's Mom to Odell's brewery to sample their new small batch brews.  We only stayed an hour but all of us had fun sitting on the patio and just relaxing.

Pretty Drive

Alex and I both wanted to get out of the house yesterday but were too tired to do anything strenuous.  We decided to take a drive up the Poudre Canyon.  It was late afternoon and we took the back roads through the foot hills to get there.  It was a beautiful relaxing drive.  Just as we reached the canyon, Matthew got hungry so we stopped and went down by the river to feed him.

Vigo didn't want anything to do with the water, in fact I think he was afraid of it.  He just wanted to sniff the ground and try and eat rocks.

Grandma Kaplun

Alex's mom arrived last week to see Matthew and help us out.  She has enjoyed playing with her first grandchild.

Matthew is almost 6 weeks old and he is really starting to look around a lot more.  Yesterday we played for a bit on the play mat for the first time.

Vigo wanted to play too so we played tug.  Both of our little guys are growing so fast!

This morning I spent some time taking pictures of Matthew and I wanted to share a few.

fall colors

My friend Brianna and I went over to Rocky Mountain National Park on Sunday to photograph the changing aspen trees.  We had a lot of fun playing with our cameras and climbing around amongst the trees.  I didn't really get any great shots but I thought I would share a few.

This is just a funky shot that I took with my spot filter.

Nice Walk

Alex and I really needed to get out of the house yesterday.  So we decided to go stroll through the CSU flower patch.  The college has a class where they do all sorts of experiments with flowers and they grow them all in one field.  Afterwards we went to cafe Vino and sat on the patio and had dinner.  Matthew behaved well and it was nice little trip.

On a side note, Anthony is now in phase 4, Eve is in phase 6 and Betsy has been career changed.  I am so proud of all of them.   We get Vigo this week and I can't wait to have him around.  I miss it when we don't have a puppy in the house.  Brianna says that he has lost several of his big teeth this week, I'm hoping this will help with his seriously stinky teething breath.

off to the airport

While my parents have been here we have tried to let them hold Matthew as much as they want and get their "grandparent" time in.  They love it and we get a bit of a break to get some sleep or catch up on things.
Grandpa and Matthew enjoy the fresh Colorado fall evening on the back deck.

Grandpa snuggles with Matthew for a few minutes before we head out to the airport.

Thanks Dad!

It was really nice having my Dad here to help.  He has gone back to NC and we are back to flying solo.  Here are a few random pictures from the last few days.

Dinner out

This past Saturday evening Alex, my dad, Matthew, Vigo and I all climbed into the car and drove to Boulder for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants, The Med.  It was a beautiful evening and we all had a great time.
Matthew takes a short nap before we leave.

Vigo snuggles up with the diaper bag on the way to Boulder.

Matthew's first big outing in public.

We were eating so Matthew decided he was hungry too.  Alex fed him while we ate, what a sweet husband.  No, not all the food is for Alex.....  The Med has Tapas for happy hour that are fantastic!  We ordered a bunch and shared them all.

A happy and fed mom and baby.

Vigo meanwhile used the diaper bag as a pillow...   I later realized that he probably was laying on it because I had kibble in it, in case it got late and he needed dinner before we got home.

Grandpa's Help!

It's been great having my Dad here to help!  He has been cooking us great meals, helping keep up with the house and the laundry and watches Matthew in the morning so I can get a few hours of glorious sleep.  Thank you Grandpa for all of your help!!!  He also like me, loves his camera.  Here are a few pictures he took.

Matthew loves bath time and his thumb - when he can find it.
