I suspect that Matthew is going to walk before he is going to crawl.... here is a clue as to why I think that:

The trees are budding and the birds are chirping. Yeah!!! I love spring! I put up the new swing that my mom bought for Matthew the last time he was here. He seemed to enjoy it but given that he is teething, he seemed more interested in trying to chew on it than enjoying swinging in it.

I have been trying to learn to use my camera in manual mode still. Its getting harder to get good shots of Matthew because he won't stay still. I took a bunch of shots and got just a few good ones.
He's 7 months old now, I can't be how fast the time goes by.
Spending some time in the back yard, early in the morning (7am)
Would have been a good shot if he would have looked at me.
"what... you talking to me?"
"I love to swing and bounce!"

I can't believe that in a few weeks Vigo will be a year old. The time has gone by so fast. Vigo thinks that every blanket I put down for Matthew is his "go to bed blanket". So he goes to them and lays down and then looks for a treat.
Our big boy. Such a pretty boy. The ladies are gonna love him if he becomes a breeder.
I am always so impressed that he never touches any of Matthew's toys. He is such a good puppy!

So what is a mom to do when it's 7am and your son is covered in Poo and your guide dog puppy is also very dirty from playing with the "guest" puppy that has been staying with you for a week? The answer.... you give them both a bath together.
Matthew played and splashed in the water while I bathed vigo. Then I washed Matthew while vigo patiently waited. It actually worked out really well.
After all was said and done I ended up with a happy baby and a clean puppy.
With Zora back at her house, Vigo has gone back to being our calm puppy that watches over Matthew constantly. We are expecting him to be recalled in June. Boy I'm gonna miss him!

Alex and I took Matthew to the Denver Zoo for the first time yesterday. Alex and I really enjoyed it. I'm not sure what Matthew thought but he seem to have fun.
Matthew's First Trip to the Zoo
It was perfect day; cool and cloudy. Most of the animals were very active.
Matthew and I by the Giraffes. The two babies were so cute!
Since the photo work shop I took a few weeks back, I have been trying to shoot all my pictures in complete manual mode. It's tough. But here I finally got a decent one of a seal that was correctly exposed. They were a ton of fun to watch play.
Matthew really liked the lizard that is over my right shoulder.
Daddy helped to carry the big boy too. (He weighs over 18 pounds now)
I was so excited to see that they now have penguins!! They were outside so you could get really close, but man did they smell!
"Really honey, do you have to keep taking pictures?"
Alex and Matthew check out the Mandrills
This is my favorite shot of the whole day! Its a bit blurry but it really makes me laugh. This is a tapir and it looks funny because it's shaking its head. Alex and I have played with these in the wild in Ecuador. They are the neatest creatures; so gentle.
On our way out, it was a great day!

One of my good friends went on vacation and we are watching her dog, Zora, for a week. If you've followed my blog for a long time you probably remember seeing pictures of Zora as a puppy playing with Anthony.
Vigo and Zora have quickly become best buds.
Vigo, our calm sleepy puppy, has suddenly become so energetic with another dog around all the time.

Our good friends Brianna and Rob, whom we are raising Vigo with, went through serious puppy withdrawal every time it was our turn to watch Vigo. So they decided to get another puppy. We are now raising Vigo full time and they have a beautiful cute new GDB puppy named Irene. She is 9 weeks old and just as sweet as can be. Alex is watching her some during the week to help them out so I'll try and get him to take some pictures.
Introducing Irene.... 9 weeks old, I suspect you will see lots more pictures of her on the blog in the future, as she in Vigo are sure to be great playmates.

We haven't gone out much lately with Matthew AND Alex both being so sick with RSV. So while my mom was here last weekend we all went to the Odell's brewery to get my Dad a pint glass before all going to dinner. And of course we had to sample anything new they had......
Matthew knows the good stuff when he sees it. He didn't want anything to do with his bottle, he wanted my beer. Don't worry, I didn't let him have any.

My mom, AKA Grandma Johns, came out to visit this past weekend. I would like to say she came to visit all of us but the truth is that we all know who she really came to visit... : )
Grandma and Matthew Getting ready to go out on a walk.
Grandma and Matthew played together all weekend long!
All that playing makes for a very sleepy little bear.
