Beego

This past week my friend (and Vigo Co-raiser) Brianna and I had a lot of fun taking pictures of Vigo in his Halloween costume.  I'd like to introduce...... Beego.

What a good dog Vigo is, he even let Brianna put him in a pile of leaves.

Christmas Shopping Already?

While my mom was here this past weekend we went christmas shopping for Matthew.  My parents wanted to get him an exerciser for christmas.    So we went shopping and of course we had to have matthew try them out to see which one was the coolest.  .... check out his adorable little slippers in the pictures.

Weekend fun

My mom flew out to visit this past weekend.  It was a short visit but really nice all the same.  We had fun just hanging out with Matthew and playing with all of the cool clothes and toys that "grandma Johns" brought.

Pumpkin Patch

Brianna and I went to a local pumpkin patch today to take pictures of Matthew and Vigo.  I am not sure if Matthew and Vigo had that much fun but I did.  Vigo was mostly interested in every thing going on and not looking at us but we still got a few cute pictures.

"I'm not so sure I am very excited about this."

Such a good puppy and baby.

Cool Dude

What a pretty puppy!

"this hay is prickly, how much longer do I have to sit in in?"

I just had to post this one... Vigo's finally cooperating but Matthew is really not happy.

Why use blanketss

Matthew seems to be cold a lot, seeing as we haven't turned on our heat yet and it often gets chilly in our house.  Wrapping him in a blanket can be a pain, he kicks it off as soon as you wrap him in it.  So we went to a used clothing store and bought several "coat" type outfits for him for less than $5 each.  So now instead of a blanket we put him in one of these and he stays warm.

I don't want you to think that my child is always clean....  On the way to dinner at IHOP.

Random Stuff

As many of you know from reading previous posts of mine.... October is breast cancer awareness month.  Alex and I woke the other day and we had been "flocked".  It was done by the women's recourse center in town to draw attention to breast cancer awareness.  I am not sure why they choose our yard but it was cute.

Last year it snowed early so I didn't get a chance to cut back any of the trees and bushes in our yard.... and this summer I was just too pregnant to do it.  We had a very wet spring (for this area) and so our yard was out of control.  I spent two days, when Matthew would let me (he hung out by me in his car seat), cutting back our yard.  And boy am I sore!  A friend is going to let us use his truck this weekend to take all of it to a compost yard.

Alex didn't have to work yesterday and so when I came in from doing yard work, I found him sitting on the couch with Matthew asleep beside him....   He seemed to like it, whenever we lifted up the hood he would fuss and cry.

Save the TaTas

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month!  So all you ladies out there..... go get your mammograms.   This past saturday I volunteered at my OB's office for their free mammogram and breast exam day.  We all wore pink shirts with fun pink accessories like hats and beads.  I took Vigo with me and he behaved like an angel.

Blurry shot of Vigo working hard.

One of the nurses put her hat on Vigo.

"Oh this is so embarrassing!"

The Boys

Alex, Matthew and Vigo take a moment to look out at the lake early in the morning.   Not a great picture but no one knew I was taking it and I didn't want to ruin the moment with a flash.

Seven Weeks Old

Matthew and I were chilling on the couch the other day and I snapped these pictures.  I love how much more awake and interactive he is becoming.

Gentle Leader

Guide Dogs has a new policy out that they want all puppies to have on a Gentle Leader when ever they leave the house.  So this past week I have been working with Vigo a lot to get him use to it.  He is such a gentle dog that he really doesn't need a gentle leader, it really feels kind of silly to put one on him, but I follow GDB rules.  I did however buy a tan colored one.  The ones GDB gave us were bright green to match the vest.  These draw so much attention and I don't like having to explain to people while we are out, why he has one on.  So far he is tolerating it pretty well.

Vigo loves Matthew

Vigo is such a sweet puppy.  He is almost 6 months old and already he is 45 pounds.  I think he is going to be a huge dog, but yet he is so gentle.   If Matthew is sleeping somewhere and starts crying, Vigo bolts to his side and sniffs him and then looks at me as if to say...  hurry he is upset.  He has learned quickly that he is not allowed to play with Matthew while he is on the ground but I do let him sniff him.  I think once Matthew learns to crawl, they are going to be great buddies.

"I know, I know, don't lick the baby"

Matthew is blurry because he was moving but I thought Vigo in the background made for a cute shot.

All you can do is laugh.

Matthew is almost two months old and so far even despite the lack of sleep, I love being a mom.  Everyday something happens to make me realize how precious life is.   A few days ago Matthew and I went shopping at a local mall.  I was trying on some shirts when he suddenly got really fussy.  I realized it was about three o'clock..... time for a poo poo.  You see, most babies poop several times a day but not my baby....  he takes two VERY large poops a day and one is always right around 3pm.  So while trying on clothes I sniffed and knew that yes, he was fussy because it was 3pm poo poo time.  We quickly left the store and went to the car to change his diaper (it was an outside mall with no restrooms).  I put him on a changing mat on the driver side while I sat in the passenger's seat.   When I got to his diaper I found that his poo had leaked out and all over his legs and and was all over his clothes (not an uncommon occurrence).  He then proceeded to  kick his legs and flung poo all over my dashboard and steering wheel.  The kick also resulted in poop on his foot and hands.  And of course he then raised his arms and got poo all over his head.  At this point I could do nothing but sit back and laugh.  Eventually I got him and my car cleaned up and headed home to give him a bath.

Today I put Matthew down in the pack and play for a nap.  I had just put a fresh sheet on and he looked so sweet sleeping quietly.   A few minutes later I checked on him and found him laying in a pool of vomit.  It was all over his face, head, arms and chest... oh and he had also projectile vomited all across the pack and play too.  It didn't seem to bother him any though, he was wide awake cooing and joyfully looking around.  Again, all I could do was just look at him and think gosh I love this puke covered baby and then laugh at the situation.... and then of course he got another bath.  Thankfully he loves baths.

I am profoundly sleep deprived, get spit up on and puked on regularly, clean up stinky leaky poopy diapers, wash outfit after outfit, scrub bottles, get up at 3am to pump fresh milk and yet somehow I love it.   Parenthood is a strange wonderful ride.

One Nation

My parents live in NC and they had the opportunity to go up to DC this past weekend for the One Nation rally.  They took a bus up at 4am and it brought them back home by midnight.  It must have made for a very long day but they had a great time and really enjoyed themselves.

GDB Regional Meeting in Denver

This years GDB regional meeting was this past Saturday.  It was a lot more active this time.  We played a lot of games that involved skills the dogs need to have.   Below is a group of us playing "musical mats" with the "go to bed" protocol.  I wasn't able to take many pictures this year..... diaper bag on one shoulder, purse and puppy bag on the other shoulder, baby on my front in a moby wrap and Vigo at my side.  It didn't leave my hands free for my camera.

I normally buy cheep dog toys at the meeting, but instead this time I bought fun festive "collar scrunchies".   Vigo is showing off his Halloween one below.
