Gentle Leader

Guide Dogs has a new policy out that they want all puppies to have on a Gentle Leader when ever they leave the house.  So this past week I have been working with Vigo a lot to get him use to it.  He is such a gentle dog that he really doesn't need a gentle leader, it really feels kind of silly to put one on him, but I follow GDB rules.  I did however buy a tan colored one.  The ones GDB gave us were bright green to match the vest.  These draw so much attention and I don't like having to explain to people while we are out, why he has one on.  So far he is tolerating it pretty well.

I haven't heard this policy, thought it doesn't matter since Kyle is already always in a head collar. How long ago did you find this out? I wonder when we will talk about it in our club.

Like Amanda, I haven't heard of this either. I'm assuming it's something new? Granted wegd only puppy sit so maybe that's why I haven't heard anything and we haven't had a meeting recently. Did they give a reason why?

It's a new policy that they announced at Fun Day in CA this year. Every puppy going back for formal training MUST be able to walk in a head collar (including gentle leader, Halti, Holt, and Figure 8). They don't need to wear the head collar all the time if they're good without it. But hey must tolerate it and walk in one or it's grounds for a CC. And by walking I mean they have to walk properly.

That's a stinking cute picture of Vigo!

is he wearing a collar scrunchy? Truffle has one for Halloween I love them because I can dress her for the season - not that she cares. HA - but I love them on her.
